I was able to meet 4 good friends from college (before and beyond acutally) for a girl’s night a couple weekends ago. It was a crazy 30 hours but well worth all the effort every one put in to be there. I was a little tired on my 6 hour drive home after staying up until 3 am! What did Lea, Jaime and I think was so important or so funny that we had to stay up that late for?
Okay you all know I’m a Sara Groves freak – here is one reason why.
Elias is crawling more and more. He also seems to play with toys a little bit and not just stuff them in his mouth! Have I mentioned how in love with this kid I am? Although the other new thing he’s doing is squealing. I have been squealing back at him- he finds it amusing.
Lucy’s new thing is riding her bike. We got it for $10. I was so happy. At first it was all she wanted to do, that was until she went down a “hill” a little too fast and had to swerve into the grass. She is very timid now!
Dustin and I celebrated our eleven year anniversary on June 6th. Marcy and Brad watched the kids for us and we had a night away to Red Wing, MN.
I’m so thankful for the years God has given me with Dustin and, hopefully, many more to come.
Some of the things I’m thankful for: Dustin’s committment to not go to bed angry, his committment to pray together nightly before bed, his tenderness to my feelings, that we both like children’s books (Chronicles of Narnia) and enjoy reading them together, that we can both get into sci-fi and/or action adventure (Star Trek, Bourne movies), his fascination with presidential history (most of the time I’m glad for this!), his awe of God’s amazing work in science.
Of course I’m thankful for our children and all the hard things God has carried us through. Great is His faithfulness!
Tonight before I put Lucy to bed I had to discipline her. Sometimes it’s hard for me to engage in the real purpose of why I’m doing it. I’m not doing it because her behavior is bothering me or because I want others to think she’s a good kid- not that these never motivate me – but they shouldn’t!
My main purpose and a main prayer of mine is Lord let me discipline her that she may share in your holiness (Hebrews 12:10). So as I said it’s sometimes a struggle to really engage. I don’t want to just go through the motions- so I have also been praying about that.
Tonight after we had talked about obeying Jesus we prayed together. Lucy prayed Lord please take the sins from me and put them somewhere else. I was so happy when I heard that prayer. I was then able to share how He did- He put them on Himself and that is why He had to die on the cross because for our sin we have to die.
Of course that led to a discussion on heaven and ended with the question – are there bees there?
You have to love the mind of a four year old! I’m thankful for that little mind and I pray that she would truly understand the mercy in Jesus Christ!
