Last night I was teasing Dustin that he is like a little boy with a new toy when he gets out his book light. Several years ago for Christmas my sister gave it to Dustin. He loves any opportunity he has to use it. Last night I was ready for bed he wanted to keep reading so he eagerly got out his book light!

Amnio Update
Today I had an amnio to see if baby’s lungs are mature enough to go ahead with the c-section tomorrow. So far it’s looking like no. The preliminary lab work showed no. They are sending the results off to the U of M lab. Okay they just called and it is a no. So I have to do another amnio next Thursday (which I’m a little bit irked about b/c they told me I wouldn’t have to originally) and the c-section is scheduled for Friday, October 3rd- exactly five years after Owen. I have mixed feelings about that but mostly positive- him and his big brother can share a birthday. It’s probably the only thing he will have to share with Owen so he’s getting off pretty easy compared to most brothers.

The Coach
Well if a team is as good as their coach I would say Brad is pretty good. Payton’s team was winning by 3 touchdowns and then just didn’t play offense anymore- which I thought was pretty nice. Really Brad seems like a great coach. He corrects them but seems to do it in a nice fatherly way. Payton did great- it was fun to see him in action. I didn’t get to see Nate’s flag football game but Dustin told me he is a pretty intense player and Nate told me he got 6 flags, so he must be! Uncle Lannie and Aunt Jill were up to watch the games too. Lucy had fun showing them her dance moves- I’m not sure Ryan was into that! Here are some pics from the day.
Can’t leave these two out.

Shrinkydinks!
When I was kid I loved doing shrinkydinks. I only remember doing it once but it always stuck out in my mind so I couldn’t resist buying them when I saw them at the store the other day. Lucy and I traced some care bears onto the plastic and then cut them out, popped them in the oven and walla- they shrunk. She loved it and has been begging to do it ever since. Today at dance the teacher asked her if she did anything fun this week and she said shrinkydinks. Here is a picture of one of the carebears. I can’t find the other one- I’m sure I’ll find it under a blanket somewhere. This one didn’t quite turn out- Dustin jokes it’s the pregnant care bear!

Laura Days
Yesterday we went to Laura Ingalls Wilder days in Pepin, WI with some good friends. It’s where Laura was born and every year they have a festival. Lucy had a lot of fun seeing the traditional craft stands. They had people who were doing: pottery, blacksmith, making yarn from wool, carving wood and cooking over an open fire. She also liked watching the square dancing but wouldn’t take part!
She had tons of fun with Linea and Meg. They look pretty cute in their bonnets! Yes, I think I know who she will be for Halloween. For those of you who don’t know, it will be Mary- Lucy thinks she is prettier- she hasn’t said it but I know that is why she will never be Laura!
They also got to make corn husk dolls. Here is the finished product.
Pepin is mentioned in this book. I would totally recommend these books – the illustrations are great! I think it’s pretty funny because Laura and Mary live seven miles from town and they don’t get to go until Mary is like 6 or something! Although it was a pretty windy, hilly road out to the original site of their house so I can’t imagine doing it in a covered wagon!

Lucy’s mind
Mom, is this called a coffee table?
Yes.
Then why are we drinking tea on it?

Momma’s Little Lamb
Lucy really does like to do what ever I do. I have been working on a cross stitch for the baby- we will see if I get it done, and she loves watching me do it. So we went to Joann Fabrics and found a little sewing project for kids. She was so excited and kept saying, “Mom, I love doing this.” It was pretty cute.

The Civic Fest
As many of you know the RNC is meeting in St. Paul, MN this week. Whatever your political persuasion it’s kind of fun knowing all those people are right in the next city. I have to say I would probably be most excited to meet Brian Williams or Andrea Mitchell rather than the politicians!
Anyway with all the hubbub going on there are some extra things happening in the cities. Being married to the presidential buff I am we decided to hit the Civic Fest. I think Dustin most enjoyed seeing the Forgotten Founding Fathers display. It had original documents from different members of the Continental Congress and told more about their role. Lucy best liked going on some sort of remake of Airforce One, an old campain bus and seeing the miniature White House.
