Can You Do One Hundred???

Posted by: Kellie on: June 19, 2008

One Hundred

Yesterday I started the 100 push up challenge. I saw it on a friend’s blog (Vitamin Z). On the first day you simply do as many push ups as you can in order to determine what kind of training you need over six weeks so that you will be able to do 100 consecutive push ups. It sounded fun. Do any of you want to join me?

Kellie suggested I wait to tell you how many I was able to do on my first try in order to see first how many you can do (we especially have in mind her brothers). Any takers?

I’m in. Contingent on one condition, You tell me what you did first!

I’m in too, but can I do them “girl” style? :)

Dude! Great to see you join the team! I have about 10-12 guys from church doing it with me. I can’t even imagine the thought of me doing 100 right now, but I am curious to see where this program leads me. Kim is trying to do it too. Hope you are well bro. Congrats on 10 years of marriage. We celebrate 10 years tomorrow.

this is mom speaking…I can do maybe one! dustin I bet you could do at least five! christa

I’m trying to convince Abraham to do it as I type this. You guys have to peer pressure him or something.

is kellie doing it too?

Doug told me about this a couple days ago and I said, “I don’t want to do it because I don’t want to get too huge of muscles.” He laughed and said, “duh! Don’t worry! You’ll never get HUGE muscles!” Great vote of confidence from my husband. (plus he claims he already can do 100 and didn’t need the challenge! ha-ha just kidding!! He is pretty studly looking, though in my opinion!!!!)

oh, by the way… if this were a sit-up challeng I’d be in for sure. In 6th grade our whole class had a sit-up challenge to see who could do the most. I won for the girs! Also, I got 2nd in the whole class right after BJ Miller!!

Brad here…..what do you if you do this first? If Marcy watches me and I do 100 – she validates this – do I get anything more than just bragging rights? Lets throw some DINERO at this and see what the purse becomes.

It is after midnight and just saw the challenge and I think I am in. I just went into the spare bedroom and could only do 35 (nose touched ground each time). I am breathing really hard. 35 can’t be good but I guess it is a start.

I’m in. But not until this weekend…

Brad – I’ll buy you a dougnut.

Mitch – Great job. I am very impressed. Especially impressive is your go-get-’em attitude to drop and do 35 after midnight.

Jared – I did 30. I may have been able to do one or two more. Kellie was counting and said, “Do your age.” I thought, “There’s no way I can do 33,” and then started laughing. I definitely couldn’t do another one after that and fell on the floor. I told Kellie what I was thinking and she said, “You’re only 32.” Darn it!

OK – its on I will do mine this weekend and the contest will offically be on.

-P>S> Jaimie you didn’t have much competition in BC (not to steal any of your thunder..but most the stud muffins in your class were from Tyke!)…

I did a push up once.

A few minutes ago Mr S asked if I was going to do this. I am still laughing.

Ruth, I am with you – no way. Not that I could w/ the pregnant belly and modified activity but even on normal life- I hate push-ups!! Unless you are talking about the orange ones that consist of icecream!

oooh, Jared, I’m shaky in my boots, I’m so scared of you big Tyke kids! Ha-ha, but seriously you’re making me think that maybe I SHOULD enter this contest. BIG MUSCLES, here I come!

I am going to do mine tomorrow…I’m feeling a little weak from the pancakes for dinner and the ice cream cone from DQ I just devoured…..not to mention the McDonald’s breakfast that I started the day off with.

mitch you be careful or you’ll have a heart atta.ck

Kellie! You hate push-ups? What about our days as aerobic instructors? I actually am up for the challenge…though I can’t tell if the current pain is foolishness or fitness! It’s hilarious though…I’m learning that “I don’t have time” really means “It’s not a priority”…so even when I think I have too much to do in the mornings, I just wash dishes, or make breakfast, or pick out an outfit to wear during the 120 sec. “rest” between reps. We’ll see if this really works!

Uhh…what if you can only do 5?!

I’m in and will do mine tomorrow (Sunday) morning and let you know. I haven’t done push ups in quite some time so it could be ugly. About three years ago I was doing a lot for a one month period :)

or should that be a :(

Jill just did 35 “girl style” and I’ve never seen someone turn so red in my life!! She said she is going to have a redo tomorrow.

OK- I am beyond out of shape….I did 35. I use to be able to rip off 50 in a heart beat….so I guess the contest is officially on.

I did 36!! Dead at 30 but had to get six more..

Emilie just did 50 “girl style”. So she has set the bar I guess for the ladies.

I don’t think girl style should count! Ha- of course I can’t do any style!!

girl-style?! Doug told me I COULDN’T do girl-style! So, now I’m going to have a re-do and let you know. Surely I can do more the 5! If you don’t see another response from me, it means I was even more humiliated because I couldn’t do more than 5 girl-style.

I probably can’t even do 5 non girl style. I was always the one in those presidental physical challenges that got the least push ups. And the stretching one. Remember that one where you do the stretch and push. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t even reach to push it.

20…girl style…horrible. But I did find one of Marcy’s earrings in the carpet…so not altogether bad:)

So funny. Lannie and Jared were probably dead at 25 but no way they let the little brother beat them.

Ok Kate you are so funny.

I just had to make 30 and then I eaked out the last 5….showed a lot of heart. :)

Kate you are so funny. I think the next time you kids are all home we will do the contest and see who wins! kate good thing you never vacuum….(: (inside joke)!

Lannie I know what you are talking about….

Any of you guys got to week three yet? It’s super hard… I’ll probably have to repeat it.

z

Z,

Tomorrow I do the exhaustion test at the end of week 2. I’ve looked ahead at the workout for week 3 and it looks really hard. It seems like such a huge jump. It made me wonder if I would need to repeat it.
