He Said/She Said

Filed under: Extended Family, Lucy — by Kellie @ 6:56 pm

Today Ryan was over at our house for a while.  After they had played well for a while we hear Lucy crying loudly in her room.  Dustin goes in to see what all the fuss is about.

D: Ryan, What happened?

R: I hit Lucy in the face.

D: Ryan you can’t hit Lucy in the face.  Lucy, did Ryan hit you in the face?

Lucy: No, he said he was going to give me a Cinderella birthday cake.

Why that would make you cry I have no idea.

Minnesota

I so wish I was flying somewhere warm today.  It is snowing here- yes snowing.  And it’s not even like just a little bit- the ground is covered and it’s all blustery outside!  A couple of weeks ago when it snowed on Lucy’s birthday I tried having a good attitude about it.  I kept thinking Jesus makes us white as snow but I’m having a bit harder having that attitude today.  I’m more thinking Lord we need some new life signs with spring!  Although even as I write that I feel like such a complainer when I have new life inside of me!

Big Girl Bed

Filed under: Lucy — by Kellie @ 7:31 pm

We finally got Lucy into her big girl bed last night. She was so excited about it and loved being able to get in an out. Both Kellie and I laughed this morning when we saw her standing in our door way bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6:50. Here is a picture of the happy girl.

Post-op

I thought I would write a quick update to let Kellie’s faithful readers know that the surgery went well yesterday. She went in yesterday for a surgery to help keep our baby safely in the womb until it is safe to come out. She had the same surgery done when she was pregnant with Lucy.

We were both very encouraged when we met the doctor and found out that not only is she a follower of Jesus, but she even attends Bethlehem Baptist Church (where we are members). It was reassuring to both of us.

Kellie is on bed rest now for a week so perhaps I will have to try and post a couple times this week.

For those of you interested, Lucy is still not happy about being three. She still wishes she was two.

Have Her Cake and Eat It Too?

Filed under: Extended Family — by Kellie @ 9:28 pm

For a little three year old (who still isn’t happy about being three), you can’t get much closer to having your cake and eating it too than this:

Cinderalla and Her Gown

While Kellie was frosting this cake, Lucy made her own.

Lucy’s Birthday

Filed under: Lucy — by Kellie @ 6:32 am

Today is Lucy’s birthday.  I will post pictures later and tell about the party.  But I just have to share a few funny things that have already happened- and it’s only 7:30!  When I went and got her out of bed of course I said, “Happy Birthday!”  She wondered where is it, is it in here?  Guess she doesn’t really get the concept of what a birthday is yet.  Then I told her you are 3 now.  She was not happy about that at all.  She wimpered and said but I still want to be two.  First I tried to convince her it was better to be 3 – with the bait of RyRy is 3.  That didn’t work.  So I said okay you can pretend you are 2.  Her response, “But I want to be the real 2!”  I can make a lot of birthday wishes come true but not much I can do about that!

Build-A-Bear

Filed under: Extended Family, Lucy — by Kellie @ 6:58 pm

Nana Christensen was here and we met Auntie and RyRy at Build-A-Bear since they wouldn’t be here for Lucy’s party.  The kids had a lot of fun.  Lucy was a little scared and shy but she loves the bear- Cinderella bear as she calls it.  She carried it all over the mall just like that too.  We couldn’t believe her arms didn’t get tired.  The bear is a little much too but I guess when you are 3 the gaudier the better!

A Common Question

Filed under: adoption — by Kellie @ 3:16 pm

Since I have been pregnant many people have asked what is going on with the adoption.  We are thrilled to be pregnant but sad that means the adoption won’t be happening in the forseeable future.

Bethany (our agency we went through) puts you on hold when you get pregnant.  They actually don’t have a hard and fast rule but I think because no birthmother had picked us we were at a stage where they typically will just put you on hold.  Once the baby is born they don’t allow an adoption for a year so we don’t see it happening in our near future.  We both still feel it is something God has put on our hearts and is still a chief desire of our’s.  I just see us building our family that way- we will see what God has in store for us.

Thanks to all of you who have prayed for us through that process and about our desires for biological children.  We appreciate them!
