The Syrian Bride

Dustin and I watched this movie last week.  I thought it was fasicnating.  I highly recommend it for anyone wanting a better glimpse into another culture.  This is about a Druze bride who lives in the Golan Heights.  Basically she has no citizenship and once she crosses and marries this Syrian man she will never be able to see her family again.  It was really heartbreaking and very interesting.  I really enjoyed the arabic too- don’t worry it has subtitles!

Last week some good friends were up visiting and we were able to see them at the hotel they were staying at.  It was nice because it had a fun kid’s pool, normal pool and a hot tub.  Lucy had a blast.  She was pretty tuckered by the time we left as you can see from the second picture- she fell asleep with the cracker in her mouth!

Happy Ressurection Sunday!

Lucy on jelly beans.

No, I’m not boycotting calling it Easter but I was purposely calling it Resurrection Sunday yesterday in hopes that Lucy will start to understand what it is really about.  In the morning we did a little egg hunt before going to church.  Some of the eggs had jelly beans and the others I tried to put meaningful symbols in so we could talk about what they meant (a cross, a little lamb, perfume, a nail etc.).  Next year I hope to actually purchase the Resurrection Eggs- but I wasn’t on top on that this year.  Lucy really enjoyed doing the egg hunt and really liked talking about them so that was neat.

Dustin wanted me to call this post noman no more.  One because Lucy said yesterday “I call it a snowman now.”  And two because Dustin feels he’s proved his manhood with this snowman.    And yes we had that much snow yesterday- crazy, huh?

Sleep

Filed under: What I'm into — by Kellie @ 11:34 am

Not much going on in my life at least on the outside!   The past 2 nights I was in bed by 7:30 pm both nights and got 12 hours of sleep.  How can I still be tired and looking forward to nap time?

8 Weeks

Well I’m not very far along but just couldn’t keep the news any longer- and most of you already know- I’m pregnant!  We are very excited.  The nausea and tiredness has signifcantly increased in the past week so that takes a little fun out of it but it will pass soon enough!  I had my first Dr.’s  appointment and got to see the heartbeat on ultrasound.  So that was amazing.

The Steadfast Love of the Lord Never Ceases

Filed under: What I'm into — by Kellie @ 7:54 am

This is suppose to be the theme of my year but I haven’t meditated on it nearly as much as I had hoped.  I made that a goal, I guess you could say, because I think it is probably the main truth about God that I most struggle to believe.   Well I could share more but that is all I really feel like sharing right now.

A Bit Bored

Filed under: Extended Family, Lucy — by Kellie @ 3:50 pm

Feeling a lack of inspiration in the blogging department.  That is why they have been so slim.  Also couldn’t find my camera when in Des Moines this past weekend -so didn’t get any fun pics of the b-day girl (Zoe-1) or anyone else for that matter!

My Dad and Kathy were just up for part of the day.  They are taking off for England today for a little vacation.  When Nana Kathy told Lucy they were going to England to see the Queen, Lucy quickly said, “And we too!”.  I said no we are going to stay home.  Any mention of royalty gets her going!

Well hopefully I’ll have something interesting in the next day or two.
