Why do I do the things I do?!

Okay I haven’t kept up with the sweets thing- but I did go 2 1/2 days!! No big record there. But I must say I haven’t been eating after supper and have cut way back on the sweets, so I am not hanging my head too low!

But to make up for it I have been getting a work out. I have been cleaning the outside of my house. It has been driving me crazy for quite some time. Sure would be easier if I had a powerwash. But the hose is working pretty good and I hook up a cleaning solution to it. I’m sure no one would notice that it’s been clean but me. But I can tell a big difference. Just 1 1/2 sides of the house to go. Hopefully will finish tomorrow!

The Gospels, Harry and the Office?

What do these three things have in common? They are 3 things I have looked forward to each day Dustin has been gone!

I decided I was going to try to read through the Gospels while Dustin was gone. I am almost done with Matthew. I don’t know if I’ll finish but it has been refreshing to not just read 1 chapter but a chunk at a time. Some things that have stuck out to me so far are: the mercy and power of Jesus, the way is narrow, and give in secret. Sort of random but things that impacted me.

Okay from the Gospels to Harry Potter? Yes, it’s true. I just finished the 7th book. I don’t want to write anything that would spoil it for others so I won’t say much. I do want to say there are “dark” things throughout the series, as I’m sure many of you are aware. I found it interesting though that to be saved from the dark lord there must be a sacrafice and love. Both of which are very strong Biblical themes. Justin Taylor had a good link on his site for Christians wondering about Harry Potter here it is.

And the third thing I have been enjoying is watching an episode of Office nightly. We own season 2. That show is pretty funny. I just watche The Injury.

One thing I haven’t been enjoying is no sweets. I am trying not to eat any until Dustin gets back. I’m on my third day and you wouldn’t believe how hard it is for me. We’ll see if I can make it until he gets back!

And He’s off

Well Dustin left us on Sunday! This time we went into the airport since Lucy burst out crying last time when we just dropped him off. She did much better this time. It helped that we were going to Maggie’s (see below) shortly after we dropped him off. It’s always hard to have him gone for so long. We especially miss him in the evenings. Lucy has cried for daddy a couple of times and has said several times, “My daddy on big, big airplane?”

A Treasury of Adoption Miracles

I just finished this book by Karen Kingsbury. It was so encouraging to me. It helped me to feel more patient about our adoption process because you could see how God just put the right child with the right family in His timing. I can’t wait to have another child to love and be loved by! Children truly are a gift of the Lord.

Another New Look

I just couldn’t get into the last look. I’m thinking about going back to my original! We’ll see. I’m going to try this one out. Well I have a little pouks on my lap who keeps saying, “My do it!”

Fun in the Sun

Well actually it was kind of overcast but it seemed like a good title anyway! Lucy had a ball playing with her friends Natalie and Ben today. She is a little obsessed with Natalie and even wanted Natalie to join her each time she went potty- thankfully Natalie was spared a couple of times! Natalie is great with Lucy and we are so thankful for how she plays with Lucy and takes care of her!

Down to Three

I don’t know if any of you remember me talking about the 4 Amigos- well we are down to three. We lost bear on Sunday at church. I searched that place high and low and he was nowhere to be found. I think Dustin and I were more upset about it than Lucy- I should say I know we were. She has asked for him a couple times but nothing more than that. Still hoping that he’ll show up. She has slept with him since she was 9 months old and just recently she named him Dustin! Which of course Daddy loved.

Psalm 9:9-10

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know Your Name put their trust in You, for You O Lord have not forsaken those who seek You.

I have been trying to memorize this verse. I’m so glad God is my stronghold. O Lord thank you that you never leave me nor forsake me!
